Year 9 Softball Team Runners Up in Sutton Schools Competition

History very much repeated itself in this years Sutton Schools Softball competition. Last year's competition saw the Year 9 team finish as Runners Up, and this year was no different!

The team made it's way to Bishop Walsh having put in a decent amount of practice in the lead up to the event.

Arthur Terry found themselves in a group of three with North Birmingham Academy and Plantsbrook. Sadly, North Birmingham Academy did not attend meaning two matches would be played against Plantsbrook in the group to determine who would progress to the final.

The two teams could not be separated after two matches, with the scores tied at an incredible 31-31! The match went to the sudden-death equivalent in Softball where Arthur Terry were victorious.

This saw the team progress to a final against Highclare, who had crushed Fairfax School in their own respective group decider.

The final proved to be a step too far for the Arthur Terry boys, who were beaten 14-11, with Highclare progressing to the school games finals later in the summer. Well done to them.

The Arthur Terry team consisted of:

Joe Newey
Goerge Pegg
Nathan Blundell (C)
Jack Carwardine
Matthew Cotter
Ethan Sinclair
Jay Sennett
Jake Ellis
Jake Dunn
William Edler

The team played extremely well for what was their first competitive Softball competition as a team. Well done to them!

Sutton Schools Athletics Championships!

On Wednesday 10th June students from the Arthur Terry School descended on Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletics Club to compete in the Sutton and Erdington Athletics Championships!

On what was a fantastic day of weather, the students performed exceptionally well. Much like all those who attended, Arthur Terry had taken six teams to compete, with boys and girls teams from Years 7, 8 and 9. The students who took part are shown below.

Whilst the day appeared to be a successful one, with many victories and an excellent level of competition, we will not know how successful the students have been until we receive the final results through. As soon as these are received they will be posted!

All students involved conducted themselves in an excellent manner and we keep our fingers crossed for the results that will shortly arrive!
